  • Support NBHA’s vision to improve the overall health and quality of life of all Americans by enhancing their bone health
  • Advance NBHA’s efforts to address the priorities of the 2008 Bone Health Summit’s National Action Plan:
    • promote bone health and prevent disease;
    • improve diagnosis and treatment of bone disease; and,
    • enhance bone research, surveillance and evaluation
  • Help NBHA raise public and healthcare professional awareness of the severity of osteoporosis and importance of secondary fracture prevention
  • Enable NBHA to provide a platform for collective discussion on subjects important to bone health, particularly vitamin D, calcium, dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) reimbursement and utilization, and the risks and benefits of use of bisphosphonates and other bone health therapies;

United States Bone and Joint Initiative

The United States Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) is the U.S. National Action Network of the worldwide Bone and Joint Decade, an international collaborative movement sanctioned by the United Nations/World Health Organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for people with bone and joint disorders, including osteoporosis, and to advance the understanding, prevention and treatment of these conditions. As a unique, interdisciplinary coalition of organizations, the USBJI connects thought leaders, health care professionals, educators, researchers, industry professionals, patients and patient advocates. It develops collaborative programs and activities, and creates forums to exchange information, build partnerships, and develop consensus on issues of common concern to its members and society at large.
